I started to pursue a music career back in the mid 90's.
Urban Contemporary Gospel.
I've been singing since the age of seven.
My voice.
The best album that I ever bought in the early 90's was Jodeci "Forever My Lady" this group took new-jack swing to a different level.
TonyToniTone is one of the best bands within the new-jack era. Mint Condition is another.
I would make the industry more of an industry where it is not driven by the dollar bill all the time, but the love of music. We all want to make sales and get paid but sometimes we forget the purpose of music which is the love to create a song that someone can relate to. This is the essence of music, people can take a song and relate it to what is going on in their lives.
My philosophy on life is to live your life to the fullest but yet remember to praise God and give Him glory.
In my opinion we see bands come and go. You must willing to stay in the music industry regardless if you made 100 millions sales or just 10 you should focus and keep the drive in your heart knowing one day you will reach the top.
My voice.
To reach as many people to hear the message about Jesus and His soon return.
I sang at a church a while back and a certain member approached me and said that they felt the words that I was singing and it made them feel blessed knowing that the LORD truly loves them. That is why I do gospel music so that I can touch someone and help them see Jesus.
Knowing that some will chose to turn their backs on Jesus after He has made a way for salvation.
Jesus, because this is the reason why I sing. To use my talents to give Him glory.
I was singing at a wedding and suddenly I forgot the words to the song but I continued singing just making up words until I remember the lyrics. But it all came together and know one knew the difference. People actually thought it was a song that I wrote at the end.
One again, I must say Jesus. Because without His love and mercy there is no reason for me to sing.
Success means knowing that I have accomplished the task of winning souls through the gift of music. The money will come and so will the fame but that is not my main focus.
I would like to be remembered as an artist who went the distance to bring music to the hearts of those who were willing to hear the message.
Don't get discouraged about the industry. If the doors of the industry are closed to you just keep moving forward and don't give up on your dreams to be successful. "To God Be the Glory".
