"Meet the soulful, sexy, dynamic voice of Tim Tucker"
Tim's career began by playing keyboards and backup vocals in the 80's with a band called Divinity out of Oakland. With Divinity and various bands he has opened for, performing with B.B. King, Chico De Barge, Alexander O'Neil, Roger & Zapp and En Vogue. He studied for three years with world-renowned vocal coach Judy Davis and developed his own style of raspy funk with a smooth tip.
Tim's recent release, an independent album under the name Black Boy has received a very favorable review in HITS magazine 11 March 1996 for his debut album A Deeper Groove.
"Okay, you look at the cover, see the name "Black Boy" and immediately think it's another one of those damn hip-hop bad boyz. Stop that thinking and give a listen. Black Boy sings with a fervent energy and vibrancy that will attract a sizable listenership. Producer Freddie White pulls serious emotions out of Black Boy. Pay attention to Sweet Nothings." a single that should attract attention throughout urban radio. Also check "Over Time" and "Over U".
'Lo-Fi HI' is the second project to come from Tim. This time he has taken on the name the collective. "I choose this name because music to me is a combination of ideas, feelings and life experiences both bountiful and bittersweet. What I do, "the collective", is the results of mixing together all of those different perspectives either as a group or individual." That mixed with a strong love for soul music and the masters who sing it (Gladys Knight, The Dells, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin) the collective is not just about one style but many. This can really be heard clearly in Lo-Fi HI. Love and Lust are the pilot and co-pilot on this musical odyssey.
