Emerging as one of the most captivating voices in contemporary music, ASH is quickly carving out a distinctive space in the alternative R&B scene. Known for her bilingual lyricism, genre-blurring production, and signature vocal style, ASH’s music offers a rich tapestry of sound that transcends traditional boundaries. Following the successful releases of her debut single, "Infatuated," and sophomore track, "Reverse Psychology," ASH has returned with her highly anticipated debut EP, Holding Water,—a seven-track exploration of emotional release, self-reflection, and transience.

Drawing influences from R&B, rock, indie, and neo-soul, Holding Water, showcases ASH’s multi-faceted artistry and her ability to seamlessly weave elements from different genres into a sound that feels entirely her own. Her unique blend of influences sets her apart in the alternative R&B landscape, creating a listening experience that is as immersive as it is boundary-pushing.

Raised in Beijing's vibrant international community, ASH’s journey to becoming an artist has been shaped by her diverse upbringing and deep musical roots. A classically trained pianist from the age of four, she taught herself guitar, bass, and drums during her teenage years. Balancing her passion for music with academic success, ASH attended the University of Pennsylvania, and later, The New School in New York City, where she pursued a Master’s in Music. It was during this time that her demo for, Holding Water, caught the attention of Grammy Award-winning mixing engineer Jeff Ellis, who has worked with the likes of Frank Ocean, Doja Cat, and Kali Uchis.

Speaking on the EP’s release, ASH explains: "For my very first project, I wanted to reflect on some of my earliest and most vivid emotional experiences in life. I started, Holding Water, in 2020, during a time when I could finally step back and tend to my soul the way I always needed to—through music. Over these few years, the most powerful lesson I learned was that letting go of my need for emotional control was the only way to find the mental freedom I craved. Holding Water, represents that moment when you hold the reflection of the sky in your hands, just before the water slips away. I hope the EP captures the fleeting nature of life and the acceptance that comes with it."

With Holding Water, ASH cements her place as a bold new voice in music. Her ability to fuse deeply personal storytelling with genre-defying soundscapes marks her as a rising star to watch. As she continues to push the boundaries of what alternative R&B can be, ASH is poised to leave an indelible mark on the contemporary music landscape.
