Chicago-Based Artist Jawson Dell Announces Release of New Single ‘Refresh’

Rising star Jawson Dell, a talented vocalist and songwriter known for his captivating blend of Alternative R&B, Funk, and Soul, is set to release his latest single, ‘Refresh.’ This track not only showcases Jawson’s unique approach to songwriting but also encapsulates his journey from a childhood passion for music to becoming a prominent figure in the Chicago music scene.

Originally hailing from Colorado, Jawson's musical journey began at just eight years old with violin lessons. However, it was singing that captured his heart. Inspired by the early days of American Idol, he became an enthusiastic shower singer, often recording original songs on his cassette radio. As he grew up, he immersed himself in a diverse array of musical genres, including Jazz, Gospel, Blues, Motown, Rock, and Classical, all of which continue to influence his sound today.

Despite pursuing a double major in business and accounting, Jawson never lost sight of his musical dreams. He cleverly utilized the extra credits needed for his CPA to take vocal lessons and remained active in his school orchestra. After graduating, he made the move to Chicago, where he began performing at his local church and engaging with the city’s vibrant open mic scene.

The Covid-19 pandemic became a pivotal moment for Jawson, reigniting his passion for songwriting. In 2021, he released his debut single, ‘Movin On,’ marking the start of his professional music career. Jawson’s creative process is deeply personal and introspective; he writes all his music from scratch, beginning with melody before crafting the lyrics. Once the foundation is set, he collaborates with his producer to refine the instrumentation.

‘Refresh’ serves as a testament to Jawson's evolving artistry. Inspired by the rejuvenating feeling of spending time with supportive, genuine people, the song employs the metaphor of water, symbolizing the nourishment and clarity derived from positive relationships. With its message that the best things in life are free, ‘Refresh’ masterfully blends elements of soul, funk, and R&B, creating a sound that is both timeless and modern. “There is nothing better than refreshing interactions with good people,” shares Jawson Dell about the release.

This year has been particularly fruitful for Jawson, who has released three new singles and performed at various venues across Chicago. As he gears up for the release of his debut EP, Still Waters, scheduled for March 2025, Jawson is eager to continue sharing his music with the world and solidifying his place in the industry.
