Welcome to MeloDrift. Can you tell us a little bit about your musical background?
Music has been an integral part of my life from a young age. I began learning classical singing at the age of 10 or 11, which provided the foundation for my musical journey. At 15, I formed a group with a close friend, where I took on the roles of both songwriter and vocalist. However, the band eventually disbanded when my friend moved abroad for his education. Afterward, I decided to pursue music independently, exploring beats online, writing lyrics, and experimenting with diverse sounds. This independent journey has shaped my musical identity ever since.
If your life had a theme song, what would it be?
That’s a tough question! My life has been a rollercoaster of experiences—filled with ups, downs, and diverse phases—making it difficult to pick a single song that encapsulates it all. To be honest, I don’t think a song exists that fully represents my journey yet. Perhaps one day, I’ll create a theme song of my own that captures it all!
Who or what have been the most impactful influences on your musical style and sound?
While I wouldn’t say I have direct “influences,” there are artists I greatly admire and from whom I’ve learned a lot. Icons like Tupac, Sidhu Moosewala, and 50 Cent have had a significant impact on me. Their ability to combine meaningful song writing with unique flow and distinct sound is something I deeply respect. Each of them pushed boundaries in their own way, and their music continues to inspire me to bring the same energy and originality to my own work.
How do your life experiences shape your songwriting, and what emotions or ideas do you hope listeners connect with in your music?
My song writing is profoundly influenced by my life experiences. I write about what I’ve lived, witnessed, and the journey that has taken me from where I started to where I am today. My lyrics often reflect the realities of my surroundings and the people in my life. At the same time, I try to capture the shared struggles and challenges that many people face—putting into words emotions they may find difficult to express. My goal is for my music to resonate deeply with listeners and provide a sense of connection to their own experiences.
Each phase of music-making—writing, recording, rehearsing, and performing—has its own unique rewards. Could you share a memorable moment from each stage?
Every stage of music-making is rewarding, but writing holds a special place in my heart. I vividly remember when my friend and I first started recording on Logic Pro. We didn’t have a microphone, and since there were no studios in our city in India, we improvised by recording with our phones. We would import those recordings into the DAW, and to our surprise, they sounded surprisingly good! Those early days of experimenting and learning from scratch taught me invaluable lessons and shaped my approach to music today.
Is there a song of yours that holds particular personal significance? We’d love to know more about the story or the inspiration behind it.
Every song I create holds deep personal significance. Each track is a reflection of my emotions and life experiences, making it difficult to choose just one. Every piece captures a unique moment—whether it’s joy, struggle, or introspection. To me, my songs are like pieces of my heart, each with its own story and meaning, so singling out one feels impossible.
If you could swap lives with any musician for a day, who would it be and what would you do?
Honestly, I wouldn’t want to swap lives with anyone. My focus is on carving out my own path and leaving my mark in the music world. One day, I want people to answer this question by saying my name. That’s my ultimate goal—to build my own legacy and inspire others.
What’s a guilty pleasure song you secretly love but might surprise your fans?
I’d have to say “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen. It’s so catchy and upbeat that it’s impossible not to sing along when it comes on. It’s a bit outside the kind of music I usually listen to or create, but sometimes you just need a fun, feel-good track to brighten your day.
Looking ahead, what are some goals or dreams you have for your music and career?
Looking ahead, my primary goal is to continue evolving as an artist and reach a wider audience with my music. I want to create songs that resonate deeply with people and inspire them in some way. Ultimately, I aim to build a legacy—not just as a musician, but as someone who made a meaningful impact through their art. Collaborating with other talented artists, performing on international stages, and maybe even launching my own music label are some of the dreams I’m working toward.
Finally, is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers before we close?
First of all, thank you for giving me this platform to share my story. To all the readers and listeners out there, I just want to say—never stop believing in yourself and your dreams. The journey may be tough, but it’s those challenges that shape you into the person you’re meant to become. And, of course, keep supporting independent artists like me—we create music with our hearts, and your support means everything to us. Thank you!
