Curly Mojo has electrified the global dance scene with the release of Roads Walked, via Silent H Studios in tropical Far North Queensland, Australia. Crafted entirely by the independent singer-songwriter and later refined in Miami by renowned producer Austin Leeds, the track blends infectious hooks, soaring melodies, and deeply reflective lyrics. Designed as both an anthem and a dancefloor filler, the song channels personal struggle into a powerful message of hope, showcasing Curly Mojo’s signature full-band sound and genre-spanning artistry.
Welcome to MeloDrift. Can you tell us a little bit about your musical background?
Music has been within me since I was a very small child I started playing guitar at 12 years old and was fast recognized as someone who had natural talent. By the age of 15 I was giving lessons and doing concept performance is at school and doing parties on the weekend doing bands and music for parties on the weekend in bands playing and cover bands by the time I was 17 years old and accepted into the highest level of music programs within every high school that I attended. Music has always been in me.
If your life had a theme song, what would it be?
So many songs come to mind for a theme song for my life but I think Disarm Smashing Pumpkins would be a pretty good one.
Who or what have been the most impactful influences on your musical style and sound?
A lot of early 90s rock and soul a lot of Blues and funk are the biggest influences and then stepping into the psychedelic outdoor music scene totally changed my perspective on music again.
How do your life experiences shape your songwriting, and what emotions or ideas do you hope listeners connect with in your music?
My whole entire life has just been one song and I'm just figuring out how to put it into words. I love making music and it's all that fulfills me and leaving a legacy for my family is a massive part of my musical journey.
Is there a song of yours that holds particular personal significance? We’d love to know more about the story or the inspiration behind it?
All songs have such significance to me because I write everything myself and they all come from a very deep place Strong Again would have to be up there because I wrote that for my partner I also released that on her birthday which is a forever gift. I did the same thing for my eldest child as I wrote a song for her and I released that on her birthday as well so KIDD and Strong Again are fairly important to me. Roads Walked and Roads Walked Dance Mode is definitely really important songs to me as well.
Each phase of music-making—writing, recording, rehearsing, and performing—has its own unique rewards. Could you share a memorable moment from each stage?
I write all my music from my life's experiences. I record it and I rehearse in my own studio daily and performing is one of the most rewarding parts about writing music. Sharing music with people on big stages has always been my dream and now it's time to make it happen and execute my plan. Roads Walked dance mode comes from a pretty hard place that every human has been through at some stage in their life. It's a relatable feeling that all of us have felt through hard times realizing that sometimes people around us aren't the people that they're meant to be. At the end of the song there's a ray of of much needed hope, where we all need to pull together to change what's going on in the world because the desperation that I'm seeing has to stop. If we band together, if everyone actually talks openly and everyone actually approaches with love we can make something amazing happen together. Where else does it start?
If you could swap lives with any musician for a day, who would it be and what would you do?
I would swap my life for anyone mate I am the luckiest man on planet Earth.
What’s a guilty pleasure song you secretly love but might surprise your fans?
My guilty pleasure was done by Mike Patton and is called Lovage definitely worth checking out and will surprise people.
Looking ahead, what are some goals or dreams you have for your music and career?
I've got some amazing things coming up in 2026 including the release of my next album which is going to be in August which I'm in super excited about and really keen to share with the world. It's going to be called "Outside Mine" and we'll be released in conjunction with the last single from the album called "Missn Hurts remix". Actually just received the master copy of the remix which I'm in the process of uploading as we speak and I've got to say it's one of the best of the album. I can't believe how good the vocal turned out I got a new microphone, lots of new skill and ability and the outcome is just amazing so yeah I'm excited to share this one with the world.
Finally, is there anything else you'd like to share with our readers before we close?
I think a lot of the best music in the world comes from really hard places and from when I was 29 years old to where I am now I had been diagnosed with seven forms of cancer and backed up by a dozen major surgeries to correct I thought things were really bad. I decided to have some time off with my family. We went to a pretty remote like location in Cape York Australia and my youngest fell into a fire and had burns to 7% of her body and it totally change all of our lives. She's absolutely fine from the fire apart from a couple of little scars but honestly nothing drastic given what happened. Matilda is amazing now and she doesn't really remember much of it but it really changed me forever. I hit a MASSIVE LOW after my daughters recovery and that's actually when Curly Mojo was born. It is the fuel behind the scenes and to be able to share my music with the world and leave a legacy for these beautiful girls that I have the privilege of spending every single day with. A little exclusive today for you guys is that I have actually finished writing and doing a rough recording of my next full guitar album which will be released next year and one of the songs is actually for my youngest daughter which will be released next year called "fire burns better." Just go to practice singing it without crying because it is a pretty powerful song and I hope that it moves people gives people hope through hard times.
