Joshua Milú Turns Uncertainty Into Self-Acceptance In ‘Sucito: A Home’.

London-based producer and vocalist, Joshua Milú, is back with his latest experimental EP ‘Sucito: A

Home’. The EP condenses just three tracks in, clocking it just over ten minutes. It is an emotional

journey throughout, demonstrating Milú’s struggles as a queer person living in a working-class

community.

The strongest aspect of the EP is how each song is so different yet it all ultimately takes the listener

on an experience. An attentive listener would pick up on how each song fits into Milú’s life and how

his life has evolved as the EP goes on.

‘Mayhem’ kickstarts the EP off with a bang. It sets the tone completely from the off and sounds a

little bit like unorganised chaos. Although, cleverly from Milú, this is exactly how the track is meant

to sound. It reflects his personal challenge of growing up in a working-class community while also

being queer.

Next up on the EP is ‘OATMEAL’, which sounds opposite to what you’d expect. Milú has used this

track to showcase his talent for being able to turn mundane activities into an intimate song. It is also

disguised by a very catchy dance beat.

‘A Home’ concludes the EP, Milú’s personal journey, beautifully. It is a song about accepting oneself

and being okay with that, it is a lovely message to send to listeners. Milú has captured this thought

path fantastically through this song, it really shines.

‘Sucito: A Home’ is a promising and thoughtfully constructed release. Joshua Milú has created a

strong sense of identity and belonging through this EP, and as a listener, this is great to see. As it is

only a brief EP and leaves the door slightly ajar, it will be interesting to hear Milú’s next release.
