After the release of “Get Ready,” Katie Dauson returns with an infectious new single, “Will You Won’t You.” The ever-versatile Toronto singer-songwriter draws inspiration on this track from 1950s rockabilly, especially groups like The Crickets. With additional inspiration from 1970s revivalists like Blondie and George Thorogood, “Will You Won’t You” blends vintage spirit with modern sensibility in an irresistible track.

Produced by James Nickle, “Will You Won’t You” is a careful blend of classic rockabilly feel and modern technique and styling. For the rhythm guitar part, Dauson deployed a left-handed G&L Comanche in Shoreline Gold, so chosen for the unique tone of its pickups. Additionally, Nickle and Dauson added a fuzz pedal to put a layer of modern grit over the track. These choices help bring Dauson’s rockabilly influences to life, and do wonders in modernizing the sound.

On “Will You Won’t You,” Dauson follows in the footsteps of rockabilly innovation by prominently featuring the saxophone, which George Thorogood added to his band decades earlier. “I love George Thorogood’s guitar playing, and the fact that he added a saxophone player to his band in 1980,” Dauson shares. “Saxophone is such an important instrument in rock and roll and rockabilly, it really elevated his music.”

All over “Will You Won’t You,” Katie Dauson’s great appreciation for her rock n’ roll ancestors is obvious. She clearly wears her influences proudly, and honors rockabilly tradition while reinventing it with her own touch. “Will You Won’t You” is representative of Dauson’s genre-defying ability to bring sounds from bygone eras back to life, while adding a hefty dose of authentic passion and joy that only she can.

“With ‘Will You Won’t You,’ Katie Dauson delivers a vibrant, toe-tapping anthem that channels the spirit of classic rockabilly while injecting it with a bold, modern edge,” music publicist Danielle Holian, Decent Music PR, shares. “The track captures her signature blend of vintage inspiration and fearless individuality. It’s playful, gritty, and irresistibly catchy. This single really showcases Katie’s ability to honour the roots of rock and roll while making the sound entirely her own.”
