Pop icon Limahl is back with his first single release in over five years – and this time, he’s diving into new sonic territory. Reimagining the 1972 America classic “A Horse With No Name,” Limahl brings a fresh, retro-futuristic spin to the well-loved track. Out now via Christopher Music, this is the former Kajagoogoo frontman's first-ever cover, blending ‘70s musical aesthetics with the rhythmic punch of ‘90s electronica.
“The original ‘70s track has been a favorite on my evening playlist for a long time,” Limahl shared. “I had always wanted to do my own version.” The result is a shimmering blend of nostalgia and innovation, featuring a Jupiter 8 analogue synthesizer, filtering envelopes, and even a late-stage guitar addition Limahl calls “the icing on the cake.”
The new single lands hot on the heels of several high-profile appearances. Limahl’s nostalgic performance of “Too Shy” on BBC’s Comic Relief helped raise £34 million for global poverty relief. He’s also a viral hit on TikTok, where a clip of him singing the iconic chorus has notched nearly half a million views.
Still very much in demand, Limahl continues to tour Europe and recently performed at the reopening gala of London’s National Portrait Gallery, the SENSE charity event with the Princess Royal, and the Terrence Higgins Trust fundraiser — all raising over £100k each. He also made a special appearance at the premiere of La Historia Interminable, the new stage musical of The NeverEnding Story, in Madrid.
From ‘80s chart domination with hits like “Too Shy” and “NeverEnding Story,” to reentering today’s musical landscape with reinvention and style, Limahl proves once again that true pop magic is, indeed, never-ending.
