Rome and Red, the electrifying sibling duo behind The Keymakers, are on a mission to redefine modern electronic music with their soulful, genre-blurring sound. Since forming the group in 2017, they’ve captivated audiences with a blend of electronic beats, live instrumentation, and deeply emotional lyricism, creating a musical experience unlike any other.
Despite their close bond and shared love for music, Rome and Red initially followed separate musical paths. Rome developed his talents as a saxophonist in jazz bands and as an R&B vocalist, while Red gained recognition as a DJ, spinning tracks at college parties and shows. Their individual journeys are reflected in the wide range of influences that permeate their music, fusing jazz, R&B, electronic, and pop elements.
The Keymakers’ rise has been nothing short of remarkable. With over 3.8 million streams and 100,000 song saves across platforms, the duo’s fusion of soulful melodies and electronic production has struck a chord with listeners worldwide. Their music has earned a spot on 17 Spotify Editorial playlists across multiple countries, including high-profile features on playlists like Time to Dance and New Music Friday. Their growing fanbase, marked by 60,000 monthly listeners, is further proof of their expanding influence.
Beyond their streaming success, The Keymakers have dazzled live audiences in major cities like New York, Los Angeles, and Boston. Their shows are a dynamic fusion of DJing, live instrumentation, vocals, and sampling, delivering unforgettable performances that leave fans eagerly anticipating what comes next.
After relocating to Los Angeles in 2020, The Keymakers have been hard at work on new music, with their latest single, “Separate”. The track, recorded in their home studio, is a heartfelt blend of electronic, chill house, and pop. Featuring a delicate mix of piano, electric guitar, and synths, “Separate” is a reflection of their unique ability to balance physical and digital elements while maintaining a strong emotional core.
“Separate” was inspired by Red’s personal experience with long-distance relationships and explores the complex emotions of love and separation. The song turns these feelings into a poignant lesson on coping with distance. “Distance, heartache, longing - these are things almost all of us have experienced, and we hope people can relate to what we’re saying with the song,” the brothers shared.
As they prepare for the release of “Separate,” Rome and Red continue to push boundaries, creating music that resonates emotionally and physically. With their innovative approach and dedication to their craft, The Keymakers are poised for even greater success, cementing their place as trailblazers in the music industry.
