Sally Mango Pushes Creative Boundaries with New Album 'Homemade'

Sally Mango made waves earlier this year with the release of, Homemade, their third studio album—a jazzy, funk-rock record that seamlessly blends indie, soul, R&B, and pop. Known for their fearless experimentation and independent approach, the six-piece ensemble has taken full control of their artistry, crafting an album entirely on their own. Every aspect of the project, from songwriting and composition to production, mixing, and mastering, was handled by the band themselves.

Formed by Zia GV (lead vocals), Rohan Sahai (keyboard), Mikey Scheufele (guitar), Charlie Buffa (bass), Julie Chanin (drums), and Nick Turley (saxophone), Sally Mango’s fanbase has grown organically through live shows and word of mouth. With, Homemade, they expand their musical horizons while continuing to celebrate their deep camaraderie. The album is a sonic journey through California’s golden fields and sun-soaked beaches, serving as both a love letter to their home state and a reckoning of bold artistic will.

Following the anxiety-fueled themes of their sophomore album, Pressure Slide, Homemade, offers a lighter, more carefree sound. Tracks like “Love Inventory” and “Hummingbird” showcase the band’s funky groove, while “Ultraviolet” and “Cheeks in the Sun” bring a softer, more nuanced touch to their eclectic repertoire. Zia GV’s soulful voice floats effortlessly over the album’s intricate rhythms, blending with the band's tight musicianship and deep friendship to create an unmistakable chemistry.

The band’s journey with, Homemade, also comes with a special personal milestone—the birth of keyboardist Rohan Sahai’s son, affectionately dubbed the “baby mango” by the group. This life-changing event infused an added layer of joy and inspiration into the album.

For fans and newcomers alike, Homemade, captures the essence of Sally Mango’s fearless musical identity and serves as a testament to their evolving sound and artistic vision.
