Following the success of her 2022 debut Forget Me Not, Berlin-based artist Rumia returns with Old Enough to Save Myself — a 12-track album that dives deep into self-reflection, emotional healing, and the quiet strength of letting go.
Produced by Manuel Colmenero, the album blends 90s trip-hop influences with acoustic textures and modern alternative pop, drawing comparisons to Radiohead, Mazzy Star, Lana del Rey, and Phoebe Bridgers. Singing in both English and Spanish, Rumia uses genre-fluid storytelling to navigate themes of generational trauma, family ties, and inner growth.
One of the album’s standout tracks, “Kept All the Pain,” encapsulates its emotional weight with poignant lyrics: “Wasn’t in my power to save them / If known, I would’ve saved myself.” The song captures the essence of the project — acknowledging inherited emotional burdens and making the conscious choice to move forward.
Other highlights include the introspective “Shift In The Air” and the striking “Role Model,” which arrives with a cinematic music video. Together, the tracks showcase Rumia’s lyrical maturity and evolving sonic palette.
In her own words, Rumia explains, “This album is about breaking cycles, letting go of what once hurt, and realizing I no longer have to save anyone — I can save myself. Old Enough to Save Myself is the sound of a wound beginning to close.”
Having earned recognition from Earmilk, Fame, RTVE Spain, and Sofar Sounds, Rumia continues to carve her place in the alternative landscape. With this new chapter, she invites listeners to embrace complexity, vulnerability, and the quiet courage of choosing themselves.
